[ This seems like it's working now. Nojiko is already out of the New Feather dress, having managed to get directions to the Welcome Center, where she got a run-down of what was going on. That took most of the morning. The rest of the morning was spent finding her clothing, changing, and then sitting at a corner table in the bakery reading through the entirety of the new arrival guide.

She also had breakfast. A muffin. It was a blessedly normal muffin.

The breakfast was the only remotely normal part of the morning. Now that she feels educated (although...skeptical and still trying to hold all of this information in), it looks like it's time to attempt using the journal, as was suggested to her earlier. She's still at her little table in the bakery, the journal held open in front of her. ]

Hello. [ just getting that greeting out of the way, before plunging onward. ] So, I understand that this is a way of talking to people here. [ The guide explained that, and she's sort of been checking out the last two or three entries, just figuring out how it works. ] And I'm also given to understand that there are people here from many worlds?

I'm not asking for that explanation again. I'm just not sure how I'm meant to find anyone from my own world. [ ...Or if she wants to. It's not like being from her world automatically makes someone excellent company or someone she wants anything to do with. But. ] How do you know if you're from this world or that one? If there were a list of possibilities, I guess I might have a chance of picking home out.

So I suppose I'm really just asking to be found. [ Dry laughter. Well, she's taken care of everything else, so...of course, there might not be anyone else. That had been covered, too. ] If you know Cocoyasi Village or the Conomi Islands, I'd be grateful for a quick word. [ Presumably anyone familiar with geography from home would be from home, right?

A pause. Wow, she forgot something important, didn't she? ] My name is Nojiko, by the way. Thanks. [ Okay she'll just end that there, then, and see what's what. ]

Nojiko didn't notice the eavesdropping, and she looks up with a smile; the muffin is mostly gone by this point, although there's a small portion left. She'd been eating it as she read the guide. ]

Hey there. And it's good, thank you; I couldn't have done better myself. You made it?

[She grins, beaming at the compliment.]

Yes, I did! My own recipe, too. I'm glad you liked it!

I might have to ask you for the recipe, then.

[ She's peering around now. ] This place seems pretty busy, actually, so I might have to wait in line.

[Her smile turns sheepishly as she glances over her shoulder. It did get pretty busy in here...]

Um - ! Just a moment! Oh - I'm Rapunzel, by the way!

Nojiko. [ Well, the muffin was pretty good! ]

Do you need some help?

It's nice to meet you, Nojiko! [Oh, but...help? She was really willing to help her out? On her first day and everything?]

Well, yes, I suppose I could use some! But you don't need to trouble yourself. I mean, you only just arrived, didn't you?

Nojiko's always been used to having her hands full with something or another, and it does look pretty busy. ] I don't mind; I haven't got any other plans, you know. And it looks a little busy in here. Isn't anyone else working?

[She shakes her head.] No, it's just me right now, I'm afraid...b-but if you're willing to help, then of course I'll have you!

[He lets out a low whistle.] Those are some pretty impressive numbers. [He will never not be proud of his little brother getting a huge bounty like that. And after two years, it had to have gone up...

And don't flatter him, Nojiko, not when you don't know he's dead.] That would be me. I'm flattered you recognize me.

[ ...Oh, wow, that sounds like a job.

Well, she really doesn't have any better plans. 8|a And there doesn't appear to be a mikan orchard to worry about, not that she'd have much to do at this time in the year. ]

I can run a mean cash register, at least. And bake. So why not?

Nami doesn't do things halfway, so I'm not surprised she joined a crew that does the same. [ Besides, she'd seen first hand what the original members were capable of. They'd toppled Arlong Park right before her eyes. ] Ah, and I remember them being fairly impressive while they were here. ...There. [ This is not Cocoyasi, whoops.]

I've got a fairly good memory, although I admit I only really read the Straw Hat bounties closely; bounties tend to be the most interesting pieces of news to come through Cocoyasi. Or the circumstances attached to raising them, really.

Cocoyasi Village, the Conomi Islands.. [ she hums for a moment, as if she's thinking to herself about whether she recognizes the names or not. ]

I don't know. Is that somewhere in the Pacific, maybe..?

It's in East Blue. I've never heard of the Pacific...?

[The bakery is not vacant today, though the occupant sitting by her lonesome seems highly disinterested in her plate. No, Perona's dessert and tea had gone untouched for a good half hour or more, while she leaned her head one one had and gazed out the window. She wasn't exactly looking at or for anything in particular, and her mind was blank save for reminiscing about the news she heard of Zoro's death, and it definitely shows. She has no inclination to move or touch her food. Really, the only reason she's here today and now was because it was habit. Her body moved without thinking.

And here she is, with no appetite and no real desire to be out in public. She'd have preferred to just sulk where she can't be bothered. Oh well.]

[ she responds, but when she does, it's almost as if she's repeating something like a machine-- except it's just repeating something from memory that she's read before.. ]

Well let's see... there was the Captain, the first mate, the navigator, the cook, the sniper... I think that was all of them from the east blue... unless of course our archaeologist was originally from there, but that seems unlikely.

[Names? What are names?]

[ It isn't hard to notice that the girl one table over isn't in the best of moods - or that she isn't really entirely there, clearly lost in thought. It doesn't seem to be a good sort of distraction, though, and Nojiko has seen that sort of expression before; she feels required to gather up her journal and the remains of her muffin and go over to the other table, sliding into the other chair quietly.

Someone with that sort of expression badly needs a distraction, by her estimation. ]
